Best Advent Ever is made possible by the Ambassador's Club.
For most of my life, when I don't know what to do or I'm not sure which direction my life is headed, I ask God for answers. Recently, I've entered a period in my life where I'm a little more desperate for an answer, and not receiving an answer has weighed on me more often than I'd like to admit. Then this prompt came into my life: ask Him for patience when you want answers. So I decided to try it, and when feelings of anxiety or restlessness would pop up, I would pray this prayer. A few days into praying this prayer, I was at my coworker's wedding, and the priest had encouraged everyone to listen to the readings and pick out a verse that was specifically speaking to them. The second reading was the one on love from Corinthians. "Love is patient, love is kind," and so on. Now, I've heard this verse about 1,000 times before at countless number of weddings that I've been to, but it was more loud and clear to me than ever before. Love is patient. In other words, being patient gives me the opportunity to love. And sometimes the answers we want are not always the answers we need. God, grant me patience when I want answers.
