Gospel
Mk 10:13-16
And they were bringing children to him, that he might touch them; and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it he was indignant, and said to them, “Let the children come to me, do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands upon them.

Rediscover Your Inner Child
Welcome back to Radical and Relevant, where we are exploring the genius of Jesus, the genius of the gospels, and looking for a word or a phrase or an idea each day from the daily gospel to anchor our lives to anchor that day in the Gospel. Today's reading is from the Gospel of Mark 10:13-16. "And they were bringing children to Jesus, that He might touch them, and the disciples rebuke them. But when Jesus saw it, He was indignant. And He said to them, 'Let the children come to me. Do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter into it.' And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands upon them."
So it's a short reading today. And there's two parts of this reading. The first part is how are we receiving children as individuals, as a community, as a church. And the second part is the necessity of becoming like children in order to enter into the kingdom of God. And how are the two connected? Well, the two are connected because you, if you don't spend any time with children, you're likely to forget what does it mean to be a child and where does the curiosity of children come from and the trust of children come from and the unmitigated joy the children experience come from. And so ask ourselves in what way are we being challenged, called, invited to become more like children today. In what way is God inviting you to become spiritually more childlike. Have an amazing day. Don't just be yourself, be the very best version of yourself, all that God created you to be.
