Gospel
Lk 17:11-19
On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samar´ia and Galilee. And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” When he saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. Then said Jesus, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?” And he said to him, “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.”

Your Most Powerful Thank You
Welcome back to Radical and Relevant. Each day we get these few minutes together. What a blessing this is to be able to reflect on the life and teachings of Jesus and look for ways to apply it into our lives that are practical and at the same time challenge us, enrich us, stretch us to grow spiritually. Today's reading comes from the Gospel of Luke 17: 11 - 19. On the way to Jerusalem, Jesus was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered a village, he was met by 10 lepers who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices and said, "Jesus, master, have mercy on us." When he saw them, he said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests. And as they went, they were cleansed. Then one of them who he saw had been healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice, and he fell on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan and Jesus said, "Were not 10 cleansed? Where are the other nine?" Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner? And he said to him, "Rise and go your way. Your faith has made you well."
What jumps out at you today? Yesterday, we talked about the entitlement of this age, and today we realized, okay, that's not new. Here it is, Jesus' age. You got these 10 lepers. He heals them all. Nine of them don't even come back and say thank you. That might be even greater than the entitlement of our age, right? And so it's part of our human nature, and we have to stretch ourselves not to feel entitled. We have to stretch ourselves to realize, okay, what is my position in the universe? What is my position in the universe? Because when we get into a space of entitlement, we've placed ourselves in the wrong order of things in the universe. And what is the proper response? Well, we see it in the one leper. Realizing that he's healed, he turns back, praising God in a loud voice, not quietly. Doesn't praise God in a quiet voice in whispers, praises God in a loud voice, and falls on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks. What is it in your life that you should fall on your face at Jesus' feet today and give thanks? So many things, right? Look back over our lives. There are just so many things, instances, situations, circumstances, gifts, blessings that should cause us to fall on our face at Jesus' feet and give thanks. Let's do that for a minute today. Let's do that for a minute. Let's fall on our face at Jesus' feet today and give thanks. Have a great day. Remember, Be Bold, Be Catholic.
