New Beginnings

We all need a fresh start from time to time. Maybe need a fresh start in your personal finances, or maybe you need a fresh start in your marriage, or maybe you need a fresh start in a relationship with a child or a parent, or maybe you need a fresh start in your health and well-being, or maybe you need a fresh start in your career. We all need a fresh start from time to time. And the beautiful thing is that our God is a God of fresh starts. Our God is a God of second chances. Our God is a God of new possibilities. And so God is always inviting us to a fresh start.

But usually, in my life when things aren't making sense, it's because I've wandered away from God in some way. Small way or a large way, I've wandered away from God. And when we wander away from God, things stop making sense. Sometimes the danger can be to think, "Oh, I'm waiting for God. I'm waiting for God to give me clarity about this or that." But that's almost never the case. Usually, God's waiting for us.

Sometimes we're waiting for God to get with our agenda, and of course, that's not going to happen. And at the same time, God's waiting for us to get with his agenda. Whenever things aren't making sense in my life, it's usually a good time for me to turn back to Jesus to get back to basics and say, "All right. What is Jesus calling me to, in my life right now?" Or, "What would Jesus have to say about this situation that I'm struggling with in my life right now?" It's time to rediscover Jesus because Jesus, he's the ultimate new beginning, he's the ultimate second chance, he's the ultimate fresh start, and we all need a fresh start from time to time.

Ocasionalmente, todos necesitamos empezar de nuevo. Quizá necesitas de un nuevo comienzo en tus finanzas personales, o tal vez en tu matrimonio o en tu relación con un miembro de tu familia o quizá necesites un reinicio de tu carrera. Todos necesitamos hacerlo de vez en cuando. Y lo maravilloso es que nuestro Dios es un Dios de nuevos inicios. Nuestro Dios es un Dios de segundas oportunidades. Nuestro Dios es un Dios de posibilidades nuevas. Y por eso Dios siempre está invitándonos a empezar de nuevo.

Generalmente me sucede que cuando las cosas no tienen sentido en mi vida es porque he estado apartándome de Dios de alguna manera. En mayor o menor grado. Y cuando nos apartamos de Dios, las cosas dejan de tener sentido. A veces el peligro puede ser pensar: «Ah, estoy esperando a Dios. Estoy esperando que Dios me dé claridad sobre esto o lo otro». Pero ese casi nunca es el caso. Generalmente, Dios nos está esperando.

Algunas veces estamos esperando que Dios se ajuste a nuestra agenda y por supuesto, eso no va a suceder. Y mientras tanto, Dios nos está esperando para que nos ajustemos a la suya. Cuando las cosas no tienen sentido en mi vida, es por lo general un buen momento para dirigirme a Jesús, retornar a lo esencial y decir: «Bien, ¿a qué me está llamando Jesús ahora mismo en mi vida? Es hora de redescubrir a Jesús, porque Él es el nuevo comienzo por excelencia, y la segunda oportunidad suprema. Sí, efectivamente todos necesitamos, de vez en cuando, un nuevo comienzo.
