We've talked about the idea that most Christians don't believe that holiness is actually possible, and that this is the great lie in the history of Christianity. And it's the great lie that stops most Christians from reaching their full potential, from exploring the dreams that God has for their lives. The tragic thing about the lie is that you can disprove the lie so quickly. If I say to you, "Go out tomorrow and create one holy moment," not a holy day, not a holy hour, not a holy 15 minutes, just one single holy moment-- if I say to you, "Go out tomorrow and create one holy moment," you'd probably say to me, "Well, what's a holy moment?" I'd say to you, "Well, a holy moment is a moment where you're doing what you feel God is calling you to do in that moment." You'd say, "Okay, I think I've got it, but tell me one more time." I'd say, "Okay. A holy moment is a moment where you're doing exactly what you feel God is calling you to do in that moment."
There's nobody who can say, "Oh, I can't do that. That's too much." There's nobody who can say, "Ah, it's too theological. It's above my head. I can't get my head around it." There's nobody who could say, "Oh. You're a Pharisee, Matthew Kelly. You're placing heavy burdens on me like the Pharisees." No. Every single one of us can go out tomorrow and create one holy moment. It's replicatable. If you can create one holy moment tomorrow, you can create two holy moments the next day, and four holy moments the day after that. Yeah, you need God's grace, sure, but God's always going to give you the grace you need to create holy moments. If you can work with God and create just one holy moment, that proves that holiness is possible for you.
