Jn 20:11-18
But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb; and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” Saying this, she turned round and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom do you seek?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Hebrew, “Rab-bo′ni!” (which means Teacher). Jesus said to her, “Do not hold me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.” Mary Mag′dalene went and said to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”; and she told them that he had said these things to her.

Cure Your Spiritual ADHD
Welcome back to Radical and Relevant. Each day we're looking for a word or phrase or an idea guided by the Holy Spirit to anchor our day in the Word of God. Today's reading is just after the resurrection. Mary Magdalene has come to the tomb and she's found the tomb empty. We're reading from John, Chapter 20, Verses 11-18. "But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept, she stopped and looked into the tomb. And she saw two angels in white sitting where the body of Jesus had lay, one at the head and one at the foot.
"They said to her, 'Woman, why are you weeping?' She said to them, 'Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.' Saying this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing. But she did not know that it was Jesus. And Jesus said to her, 'Woman, why are you weeping? Whom do you seek?' Supposing him to be a gardener, she said to him, 'Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will return him.' And Jesus said to her, 'Mary.' She turned and said to him in Hebrew, 'Rabini,' which means teacher. What jumps out at you today? What is the word or the phrase or the idea that captures your attention? What gets me is these four words that Jesus says to Mary Magdalene, "Whom do you seek?" We are all seeking something. We are all seeking someone. Whom do you seek? What do you seek?
And if who and what we seek is not God and His ways and all the good things He has planned for us, then we've been knocked off alignment, been knocked off our path. It's time to return to the path. Sometimes it's just little things. "Yeah, I'm going to seek that person over there. I'm going to seek that thing over there." It's very, very easy to get distracted. It seems like we all have a spiritual form of ADHD and it is prayer and the sacraments that allows us to overcome that and really focus in on what matters most, on who matters most, so that we can be seeking him in all things. Whom do you seek?
