Gospel

Lk 6:43-49

“For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit; for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thorns, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. The good man out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil man out of his evil treasure produces evil; for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? Every one who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep, and laid the foundation upon rock; and when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house, and could not shake it, because it had been well built. But he who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation; against which the stream broke, and immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”

It’s time to take back your life.

It’s time to slow down to the speed of joy.

All revolutions have a moment when they begin. This is your moment.

Fill Your Life with Meaning!

What is it that jumps out at you today? For me, it's this idea a good man out of the good treasure of his heart produces good. A good woman out of the good treasure of her heart produces good. And so are we nurturing our hearts for good? Are we filling our hearts with goodness? In my book, Life is Messy, I talk about the idea that you can't live a meaningful life by filling your life with meaningless things. You can't live a meaningful life by filling your life with meaningless activities and conversations. And so today, Jesus says the good man out of the good treasure of his heart produces good. What is the treasure of your heart? What is the abundance of your heart? Is the abundance of your heart for good? And if it isn't, how do we fill our hearts with goodness so that the abundance of our heart is goodness, so the overflow of our heart is goodness? Because our hearts can get weary. Just like our bodies can get weary, our hearts can get weary. Our hearts can get cynical. Our hearts can get paranoid. And when they get weary, these are the types of things that begin to happen. And how do we keep our hearts from becoming weary? By continuing to fill them with goodness, by allowing God to continue to fill our heart with goodness. So let us go out into the world today and share the goodness that God has placed in our hearts with all those that we encounter. Good man, good woman, out of the good treasure of their hearts produces good. Let's go out and produce good. Have a great day, and remember, Be Bold, Be Catholic.
