Jo 1:47-51
Jesus saw Nathan′a-el coming to him, and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!” Nathan′a-el said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” Nathan′a-el answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” Jesus answered him, “Because I said to you, I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You shall see greater things than these.” And he said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.”

Have a Mystical Day
What is it that jumps out at you today? For me, there's a lot of mysticism in this reading. There's Jesus revealing His mystical knowledge, His visionary knowledge of these events that happened between Philip and Nathaniel before they came to meet with Jesus. And then there is Nathaniel acknowledging Jesus as the king of Israel-- as the Son of Man, because Jesus revealed this vision or had this vision, this knowledge. And then there is Jesus saying, "Okay, you're going to see a lot more than this." And specifically, he says, "You will see the heavens open and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man."
And this is something that happens every time we experience the mass; this is what's happening. When your priest stands at the altar, when we gather at the altar, all the angels and saints are gathered around that altar. All the angels and saints, thousands and millions, and who knows how many gathered around that altar. And I think it's important for us to have a mystical understanding of that and to look at the mass mystically and to envision all the angels and saints, all of heaven, gathering around that altar as the priest offers mass for us. And so as we go into our day-to-day, let's have a mystical experience of this day. Let's look for the mystical happenings that are in the ordinary. Let's look for the mystical happenings that are around us all the time, but that we often are unaware of or don't pay attention to. Have a great day, have a mystical day, and remember, Be Bold, Be Catholic
