Lk 11:5-13
And he said to them, “Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; and he will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything’? I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him whatever he needs. And I tell you, Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Ask God Boldly
What is it that jumps out at you today? Is there a word or a phrase or an idea the Holy Spirit used to capture your attention? What is the lesson? The lesson is persevering prayer is part of the lesson. The lesson is ask boldly. The neighbor is going, his friend is in bed. He's knocking on the door. He said, "Give me three loaves of bread. I got to feed this guy who just showed up." There's boldness there, right? A lot of people would not be able to bring themselves to do that. A lot of people would say to the traveler, "You're very welcome, but we don't have any bread and we got this," or, "We've got that." Very few people would be bold enough to go next door and knock on the door midnight in the middle of the night, waking their friend up, "Oh, can you loan me three loaves?" So there's boldness there, right? And Jesus is inviting us to ask God boldly, to ask God boldly. And I think very often, we don't. I think very often, we will ask for things or we'll hope for things. And there's a difference between hoping for things and really asking God for something and asking God boldly. And so the challenge I lay before you as you make your way through the world today is to discern what is it that you are being nudged by the Holy Spirit to ask for boldly at this time in your life? Have a great day, and remember, Be Bold, Be Catholic.
