Lk 12:35-38

“Let your loins be girded and your lamps burning, and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the marriage feast, so that they may open to him at once when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes; truly, I say to you, he will gird himself and have them sit at table, and he will come and serve them. If he comes in the second watch, or in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those servants!

It’s time to take back your life.

It’s time to slow down to the speed of joy.

All revolutions have a moment when they begin. This is your moment.

Your Mission Starts Now

When's the last time you thought of yourself as a servant? A great invitation placed upon our lives is to be servants of God. But I think that we don't think that much about being servants. And we do, I think, often think about how well or how poorly we are being served in different environments. Welcome back to Radical and Relevant. Today's reading is from the Gospel of Luke—continuing to make our way through Luke 12:35-38. "Let your loins be girded and your lamps burning and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the marriage feast so that they may open to him at once when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly I say to you, he will gird himself and have them sit at table and he will come and serve them. If he comes in the second watch or in the third and finds them so, blessed are those servants." Are we ready? Are we ready is the question I think that emerges here today.

Remember, each day we're looking for a word or a phrase or an idea that the Holy Spirit uses to capture your attention, to draw you into the gospel, to teach you new ways to ground your life in the life and teachings of Jesus. Today, that question emerges from me, like are you ready? And not just are you ready for death, not just are you ready for the second coming, not just are you ready for God to draw you into the next life, but are you ready to do what God is calling you to today? Because he's going to knock on the door today. He's going to ask you for something today. And are you ready? And sometimes being ready just means having a generous heart and being ready to respond generously to God's call. Let's get out there in the world and look for opportunities today. Look for the opportunities God is drawing us to and then respond with a generous heart. God bless you. Have a great day. Remember, don't just be yourself. Be the-very-best-version-of-yourself, all that God created you to be.
