Gospel

Lk 16:1-8

He also said to the disciples, “There was a rich man who had a steward, and charges were brought to him that this man was wasting his goods. And he called him and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear about you? Turn in the account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward.’ And the steward said to himself, ‘What shall I do, since my master is taking the stewardship away from me? I am not strong enough to dig, and I am ashamed to beg. I have decided what to do, so that people may receive me into their houses when I am put out of the stewardship.’ So, summoning his master’s debtors one by one, he said to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’ He said, ‘A hundred measures of oil.’ And he said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’ Then he said to another, ‘And how much do you owe?’ He said, ‘A hundred measures of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’ The master commended the dishonest steward for his prudence; for the sons of this world are wiser in their own generation than the sons of light.

It’s time to take back your life.

It’s time to slow down to the speed of joy.

All revolutions have a moment when they begin. This is your moment.

Think Outside the Box

What is it that jumps out at you today? Is there a paradox there? Is there a confusion there? Does it feel like God is praising the dishonest steward? Certainly, in the parable, the master is praising the dishonest steward for his prudence, which is an interesting choice of word. But what's it about? What's the challenge? Well, certainly, the master is saying that the sons of this world, the earthly people, the worldly people, the secular people, they have an ingenuity that we often lack in our discipleship, an ingenuity that we often lack in our evangelization. And I don't think the gospel ever encourages us to be dishonest, but it encourages us to think strategically, to think in ways that innovate for the kingdom, in ways that innovate for evangelization, in ways that innovate for how we can live the gospel any given day, in any given place, any given time. So how is God challenging you to think outside the box today? How is God challenging you to think outside the box? Might be in some aspect of your life. Might be in how you live as a disciple of Jesus. Might be in how you share the message with other people and evangelize. But there's a constant call to be innovative. There's a constant call to ingenuity in the life of the disciple. There is a constant call not to stay in the same place at the same time and to get stale.

Have a great day. Remember, do not just be yourself. Be the-very-best-version-of-yourself, all that God created you to be.
