Gospel

Mt 4:18-22

As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately they left their nets and followed him. And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zeb´edee and John his brother, in the boat with Zeb´edee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed him.

Don’t Miss Your Group Calling

Welcome back to Radical and Relevant, where each day we explore the genius of the life and teachings of Jesus. Today, we read about, we hear about the call of Jesus' first disciples. As Jesus walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." Immediately, they left their nets and followed him. And going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James, the son of Zebedee, and John his brother in a boat with Zebedee, their father, mending their nets. And he called to them. Immediately, they left the boat and their father, and they followed him. It's a beautiful image, isn't it? These fishermen, these brothers, these brothers working together side by side. And Jesus comes along and He calls them. He calls them together. And it's a beautiful image. Beautiful image. I have seven brothers and sometimes we've been called to things together. And it's interesting that at different times in our lives, we're closer to some brothers than other brothers, depending on what's going on in our lives. But perhaps the prayer today is, what is God calling you and your siblings, if you have siblings, what is God calling you and your siblings to together? Is God calling you and your siblings to together at this moment in your life? And if you don't have siblings, well, what is God calling you and those close to you? Your closest friends, people most connected in your life, or maybe your best childhood friends. What is he calling you to together? Because yes, God calls us as individuals. God calls us in marriage. He calls us as family. He calls us as church communities. But He also calls us together in small groups or in couples or siblings. What is God calling you to today with others?

Have an amazing day. Remember, do not just be yourself. Be the very best version of yourself, all that God created you to be.
