Jn 6:22-29
On the next day the people who remained on
the other side of the sea saw that there had been only one boat there, and that Jesus
had not entered the boat with his disciples, but that his disciples had gone away alone.
However, boats from Tibe´ri-as came near the place where they ate the bread after the
Lord had given thanks. So when the people saw that Jesus was not there, nor his
disciples, they themselves got into the boats and went to Caper´na-um, seeking
Jesus.
When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to
him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you,
you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. Do
not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life,
which the Son of man will give to you; for on him has God the Father set his seal.” Then
they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered them,
“This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”Jerusalem. You are
witnesses of these things

Be Careful What You Seek
Welcome back to Radical
and Relevant, where we're exploring the genius of Jesus, the Gospels' Catholicism.
Today's reading is from John chapter 6 verses 22 through 29. "On the next day, the
people who remained on the other side of the sea saw that there had been only one boat
there and that Jesus had not entered the boat with His disciples, but that His disciples
had gone away alone. However, boats from Tiberius came near the place where they ate the
bread after the Lord had given thanks. So when the people saw that Jesus was not there,
nor His disciples, they themselves got into the boats and went to Capernaum, seeking
Jesus.
When they found Him on the other side of the sea, they said to
Him, 'Rabbi, when did you come here?' Jesus answered them, 'Truly, truly, I say to you,
you seek me not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. Do
not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life,
which the Son of man will give you. For on him has God the Father set his
seal.'
Then they said to him, 'What must we do to be doing the works
of God?' And Jesus answered them, 'This is the work of God, that you believe in Him who
He has sent." Does a word or a phrase or an idea jump out at you today? Two words at the
end of the first paragraph here that struck me. "So when the people saw that Jesus was
not there, nor His disciples, they themselves got into boat and went to Capernaum." Now
that could be a complete sentence right there. But then there's a comma and it says,
"Seeking Jesus." Are we seeking Jesus? Are we seeking Jesus with all our
hearts?
Are we seeking Jesus when it's convenient? Are we seeking
Jesus in every situation in our lives? Are we seeking Jesus in just some of the
situations in our lives? People, they were seeking Jesus, and they're going all over to
try and find him. It's fostered that Spirit within us that in all situations, in all
people, every day to be seeking Jesus. Have an amazing day. Remember, don't just be
yourself. Be the very best version of yourself, all that God created you to be.
