Jn 6:35-40
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst. But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. All that the Father gives me will come to me; and him who comes to me I will not cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me; and this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up at the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

Reclaim Your Day
Welcome back to Radical
and Relevant, where we are exploring the genius of the gospels, the life and teachings
of Jesus Christ, and looking for ways to anchor our lives, our days, our situations, in
the genius of Jesus. We are in this set of readings that come from what we refer to as
the Bread of Life Dialogues. And Jesus is presenting himself as the Bread of Life. And
different people are questioning that. Different people are asking questions about that.
Different people are asking, "Okay, how do we get access to that?" And so today's
reading repeats the last verse of yesterday's reading.
We're reading
from John 6: 35-40. And Jesus said to them, "I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to me
shall not hunger. And he who believes in me shall not thirst. But I said to you that you
have seen me, and yet you do not believe. All that the Father gives me will come to me,
and him who comes to me, I will not cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to
do my will, but the will of Him who sent me. And this is the will of Him who sent me.
That I should lose nothing of all that He has given me but raise it up on the last
day."
Does a word or a phrase or an idea jump out at you today? What
jumps out at me? Jesus says, "All that the Father gives me will come to me, and he who
comes to me, I will not cast out. He who comes to me, I will not cast out." And so if
we're cast out, it's by our own doing. We're casting ourselves out. Jesus is not casting
us out. It's because we refuse to come to Him. Let's come to Him today. Let's come to
Him like we've never come to Him ever before. Say, "Here I am, Lord. Reveal your plans
to me. Show me what you want me to do." Not necessarily next year or 10 years from now,
but just today. Just show me what you want me to do today. Give me the grace and the
courage and the kindness and the generosity. Go out there and do it boldly. Have an
amazing day. Remember, be bold, be Catholic.
