Mt 7:21-29
“Not every one who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers.’
“Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And every one who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it.”
And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.

The Place of Wisdom
Welcome back to Radical
and Relevant. Today's reading is from Matthew 7:21-29. "'Not everyone who says to me,
'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father
who is in heaven. On that day, many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in
your name and cast out demons in your name and do many mighty works in your name?' And
then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers.' Everyone
then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his
house upon a rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat
upon the house, but it did not fall because it had been founded on the rock. And
everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like the foolish man
who built his house upon the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds
blew and beat against that house, and it fell to the ground, and great was the fall of
it.' And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at His teachings,
for He taught them as one who had authority and not as their
scribes."
What jumps out at you today? Wisdom. The wise man built his
house on the rock. That's what jumps out at me today is what place does wisdom have in
our culture? What place does wisdom have in our lives? And are we seeking wisdom? Are we
trying actively, proactively, to become wiser today than we were yesterday? We are
amassing knowledge and information at an astounding rate in our culture. We have access
to information and knowledge like no other time in history, and yet common sense and
wisdom seem to be slipping out of the grasps of most people in our culture. Let's make a
throne. Let's build a throne for wisdom in our hearts today. Let's ask ourselves what
are the wise things and what are the foolish things that we did yesterday, and go out
into the world to live the wisdom that God has placed in our hearts. Have an amazing
day. Be bold. Be Catholic.
