Mk 12:35-37
And as Jesus taught in the temple, he said, “How can the scribes say that the Christ is the son of David? David himself, inspired by the Holy Spirit, declared,
‘The Lord said to my Lord,
Sit at my right hand,
till I put thy enemies under thy feet.’
David himself calls him Lord; so how is he his son?” And the great throng heard him gladly.

Hear Jesus Gladly
What did you hear there today? It's easy to get lost in a reading like this and these people said this and these people said that and of course to wonder, okay, but why does that matter and does that matter? I gotta be honest. The bit that got me was till I put thy enemies under thy feet. That one stuck with me today.
Remember each day we're looking for a word or phrase or an idea that jumps out at us. You know, I got a few people causing trouble for me at the moment. I wouldn't mind the Lord to put the enemies under thy feet. But the other thing that hit me was just the opening. Jesus taught in the temple and then the closing. And the great throng heard him gladly. Imagine Jesus teaching in the temple. Imagine being there. The scripture says they heard him gladly. Imagine being there. Imagine hearing him speak live and in person, what that might have been like, and to hear him gladly. And what I take away from that is like, do we hear him gladly? Do we hear him gladly when he tells us pleasant things? Do we hear him gladly when he challenges us and confronts us and calls us to change? Do we hear him gladly?
God speaks to us in lots of ways. Let's go out in the world today and listen to him gladly. Have a great day and remember. Be Bold, Be Catholic.
