Gospel

Mt 8:1-4

When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him; and behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” And he stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. And Jesus said to him, “See that you say nothing to any one; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a proof to the people.”

It’s time to take back your life.

It’s time to slow down to the speed of joy.

All revolutions have a moment when they begin. This is your moment.

You Can Be Made Clean

The Gospel is so often encouraging us to do exactly the opposite of what the world is encouraging us to do. Jesus has just he's performed this miracle and what does he say don't tell anybody what does the world say tell everybody you know and and not and not the guy that got cured you know the world would be telling Jesus to tell everybody look how good I am, look what I can do, look what I'm capable of. And Jesus and the Gospel are the exact opposite of that.

It's this radical humility. But there's another thing that jumps out at me in today's reading, and that is that the leper comes to Jesus with this enormous faith, right? It's like Jesus, like, if you will it, you can cure me. And the leper is like absolutely convinced. It's like, if you want to do this, Jesus, I know you can do this. I believe you can do this.

And once Jesus said, yeah, I do will that for you. Be clean. And the question I always ask myself, in these sort of scenarios in the Gospels is what part of me is the leper? What part of me needs to believe that Jesus can cure my leprosy in that part of my life? What part of me needs to be cleansed like the leper needed to be cleansed? And by extension, what part of you? What part of you needs Jesus' transformation today? Have a great day. And remember, Be bold. Be Catholic.
