Mt 14:22-33
Then he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up into the hills by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, but the boat by this time was many furlongs distant from the land, beaten by the waves; for the wind was against them. And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately he spoke to them, saying, “Take heart, it is I; have no fear.”
And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, bid me come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus; but when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, “O man of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

Invite God into Your Storm
Jesus comes walking on the water. The disciples, they're terrified, right? What does it Jesus say to them? He says, take heart. Think about those words, right? Take heart.
Words of encouragement. Over and over and over throughout the Gospels, Jesus is encouraging people. Yes, He's challenging people. Yes, He's correcting people. No question. But more than that, over and over, He's encouraging people. He's encouraging you. So what situation in your life right now do you need encouragement? What situation in your life right now do you need God's presence? See, Jesus' presence changes everything.
The wind goes away. The waves come. What is the wind in your life that you need to go away?
What are the waves in your life that you need calmed? And are you inviting Jesus fully into the situation that is making you anxious, stressing you out, terrifying you, making you angry? Are you inviting Jesus into that situation at all? All, I suppose is the first question. And then are you inviting him right into the middle, right into the center of that situation, so that he can fully occupy the situation? Because when he fully occupies the situation, when we allow him to fully occupy the situation, the wind ceases.
The waves begin to calm down and we begin to see things for what they really are. That's what jumped out at me today. What jumped out at you today. Whatever that word, phrase, or idea is, take it out into the world with you. Reflect on it throughout your day. Allow the gospel to come to life in every encounter, in every event. In every circumstance, situation of your life today. Have a great day and remember, Be Bold. Be Catholic.
