Welcome back to Best Advent Ever. We are in search of the vital few. We live in a world of infinite options, and the world is constantly beckoning us to triviality and to the trivial many. God is inviting us to the vital few experiences in this life that he created just for you. Slowing down the speed of joy is a quest for the vital few. It is time to throw off the trivial many and embrace the vital few in every aspect of our lives. The key to this quest is to identify what is essential and focus on that. The vital few will liberate you from the insane busyness of the modern world. Those few things that really matter. This is known as essentialism. So the question isn't actually what is essential. The question is what is essential to you? There is no one-size-fits-all answer. It's a deeply personal question and it requires a deeply personal answer. Deeply personal questions require reflection and reflection requires leisure. What is essential for you? That is an answer only you can find by delving into your life and spending ample time reflecting on five big questions. Who are you? Why are you here? How do you do it? What matters most? What matters least? It's time to abandon the trivial many and to embrace the vital few. We've talked about learning to say no. Why? So that we have ample time for the vital few. The world is constantly throwing opportunities at us. Very often people are paralyzed by options. They're exhausted by all of the options available to them in almost every moment of their lives. God is saying, "Ignore that. Focus on the very few things that are essential to you. And when you really get into it, you discover that there are very few things that are essential to you. And when you discover those things that are essential to you, it's a moment of great rejoicing." It's like in the gospels. People find the great treasure, the lost coin, it's great rejoicing.
